Musical program "Imagine..."

We invite you to a special evening where music will connect two different periods – the free spirit of rock that our parents and grandparents lived behind the Iron Curtain, and the times of liberating thought when we became united creators of our state.

For this occasion, we have chosen a program of songs by The Beatles, performed by soloists Edgaras Davidovičius, Tadas Juodsnukis, and the Kaunas Big Band (conductor Tomas Botyrius).

The rock music of the 1970s and 1980s was imbued with a heady desire for freedom and independence. Vinyl records by Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Deep Purple, and other bands, as well as crackling foreign radio waves, constantly reminded us of the question: how long will we have to live behind the Iron Curtain? At the same time, the quartet that formed in Liverpool in 1960—John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr—sparked a veritable Beatlemania that reached Lithuania as well. Fans here imitated their hairstyles, clothing, and behavior, and The Beatles' music became synonymous with youth and freedom.

It is said that The Beatles touched everyone. Their music speaks of eternal things – peace, love, brotherhood, dreamers. It is no coincidence that John Lennon's song Imagine, which has become a musical monument to humanism, is the centerpiece of the program.

This evening, we will hear well-known Beatles songs with new arrangements. The special arrangements were created by composer and arranger Jievaras Jasinskis and will be performed by soloists Edgaras Davidovičius, Tadas Juodsnukis, and a female vocal group.
